‘Immortalise Keshi’

 

 

The  Edo FA Chairman, Frank Ilaboya has urged the Federal Government to immortalise  the late former Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi and improve the welfare of the country’s athletes  at the one year -memorial lecture which was held in Benin City for the late Coach.

Ilaboya who represented the guest speaker, Mike Idoko  also spoke on the topic, ‘Keshi an icon’.

In the same vein, the umbrella body of professional footballers in the country (APFCON), promised that the event will be an annual lecture.

Meanwhile,   former internationals who attended the event included Clement Temile, Dahiru Sadi, Prince Afejukwu and Sam Ikedi.  The Deputy Chief of Staff in the Edo state Government House, Comrade Ahmed Shuaibu and several dignitaries of the state were all in attendance.

Bendel Insurance, Dynamite FC and Edo Queens were also  represented at the lecture. Others in attendance were the National Association of Edo State Students NAESS.,

A mass was later held at the St Paul’s Catholic Church in Benin City, to commemorate the one year passage of the late Keshi.

Keshi won the Africa Cup of Nation(AFCON)in 1994 as a player before repeating the same feat as a Coach in 2013.

He was the 1st indigenous coach to qualify and guide the Super Eagles to the World Cup in 2013/2014 season before before he kicked the bucket in 2016.
