INEC: politicians connived with our officials to perpetrate over-voting during Osun poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said with the verdict of Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, it has shown that politicians and fraudulent voters, in connivance with its officials, perpetrated over-voting during the July 16, 2022 governorship election.

The commission, through the Resident Electoral Commission (REC) in Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, speaking yesterday during a stakeholders’ meeting with party chairmen at the commission’s headquarters in Osogbo, said voters deliberately bypassed BVAS during the poll and this caused over-voting.

Agboke, reiterating his statement at the palace of Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, on Tuesday, in a video on the official Facebook handle of the monarch, said with the judgment of the tribunal, BVAS was not deceitful or had a problem during Osun election, but the machine was bypassed by fraudulent voters and this resulted in infraction of over-voting.

He said BVAS helped INEC to expose those who carried out over-voting on the election day.
