Invest in Nigeria to boost economy, don urges diaspora

A professor of Biology and Extension Veterinarian (Small Animal Health), University of Illinois Extension, Chicago, United States of America, Oyewole Ajifolokun, has urged Nigerians pursuing legitimate businesses abroad to always invest wisely back home.

He said it was part of their contribution towards transforming the nation’s economy.

Ajifolokun who is also the Chairman, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) team, the University of Illinois Extension, spoke while handing over of hospitality business, Prinaj Resorts to the Ere-Ijesha community in Osun State.

He said: “I want to urge our people both home and Diaspora to come and invest in our country as part of their contribution towards transforming the nation’s economy.”

The don hinged the donation of the hospitality business to the community on his love for giving back to society and building the economy of Nigeria.

He said: “Many people do ask the question, why I am doing what I do?

“But my simple and only answer has been it is about giving back to the community and being part of the community development vanguard.

“From the beginning of recorded history, the development of a community has always been by group efforts through mutual understanding and contribution to the just course.

“At full capacity, this business will be employing not less than 40 people.

“Again, it will bring more visitors to this town and assist in no small measure in the development of the town.”
