An Edo State High Court in Benin, presided over by Justice Efe Ikponmwonba, yesterday remanded the Iyatsere of Warri, Chief Johnson Asteruleghe, in police custody till June 27when his bail application will be heard.

The Iyatsere was charged with assault and malicious damage among other offences allegedly committed in Ologbo Dukedom, Ikpoba/Okha Local Government Area of Edo.

Police prosecutor, Okunbor Orobosa, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on February 2, 2022.

The defendant’s counsel, Eghedosa Imhandegbelo, urged the court to grant him bail.

The judge adjourned the matter till June 27.
