Jennifer Oto Michael is a woman of many parts. She is a quality assurance manager, an entrepreneur who owns a boutique in Port Harcourt and recently the overall winner in the Three Crown Mum competition. In this interview with Ogeneyoma Omarejdje, she talks about her passion, how she won the competition and things that make her tick
WHAT inspired you to be part of the competition?
Interestingly, it was my daughter who told me that she saw something online about three crowns and wanted me to participate in the competition. So, she asked me to give her money to go and buy it and she went to the supermarket and returned, saying she didn’t see the pack of 1,000. After some weeks, she came to me and told me that it was not through that pack again. That, now, we had to buy the three crowns and after taking it you will snap the ball and do it and she said she would work on it for me.
It was not up to seven days after we did this that they called me from the company and asked me some questions. They told me that if I qualified, they would call again. I just took it as one of those things and I was surprised when they called me, saying ‘mum, we want to come and visit you in Port Harcourt.’ The next question was if I would be available that Friday. Then I said ‘yes’ and they came to me that Friday and did the interview.
It was at that encounter that they said voting had started. They started doing the voting online and to my utmost surprise I came first. I didn’t know how to monitor the SMS voting, so when we were doing the snacks, funs and other things I didn’t know what they were scoring. I was just doing my best and to my utmost surprise God had something important to do for me. I was surprised when they were calling.
They kept calling and calling. When we were now remaining two, I couldn’t believe it. So when they called me as the overall winner, I was shocked. I never expected it because there were pretty mums, so hearing that I was the winner was unexpected. Honestly, there were so many great people around that day that may have won it. In as much as I worked hard for me to be here, you need to be on your toes every moment. You need to campaign , you need to spend, you need to buy three crowns, tell people to impact on three crown, how essential it is, how tasty it is, how it has minerals, it has vitamins.
Interestingly, it brought out the best of another side of my life that I didn’t know I had. Honestly, all of us worked hard; we never slept.
What does it feel like being the winner?
I feel so great. I am so happy I couldn’t believe it, so that is why I ascribe everything to God who made it possible for me.
Tell us about your health routine; what are the things you do to keep fit?
I do my exercise in the morning before going to work and before I do that, I take three crown milk. But when I started taking it, it was the taste that made me like it.
Keeping fit is very important for every woman. You must look good and this would make your husband and the children to be proud of you all the time. At a point in my life, I used to wonder why some women put in so much energy into shedding weight; going to the gym and going through all kinds of exercise routines to keep fit. Now, I have embraced it myself and is already a way of life for me. I have been into this exercise thing and I do it every morning without stress.
What are other memorable moments in your life?
There are so many. But the most memorable for me is today being crowned as the Three crown mum of the Year 2018. That’s my greatest moment, my memorable moment; my memorable day. I can’t stop giving the thanks and adoration and also thank three crown milk for this day. I also thank God for this moment, for this great day and the platform they are giving me today. They have made me a celebrity before the world and my family.
What do you do for a living?
I am an entrepreneur and I run a business outfit. It’s been a wonderful journey and I must also say a big thank you to my husband; he is so supportive. I am proud that I got the support of the whole family, even the small one danced and my senior daughter had to go to school. We actually collected members from them and told some parents to vote for me.

What lesson has the competition and life taught you?
I have learnt a lot of lessons from life and from this competition. I have learnt how to work hard because hard work pays. I have also learnt that you must never give up on your dreams. No matter the obstacle, you must keep pushing on, never relent or give up on whatever you believe in. You must always give your best because success comes from hard work.
If you have to advise Nigeria women, what would you tell them?
I would tell them to eat healthy. They should know what they want at every particular time and they should not believe that they cannot be there. I would also tell them that they shouldn’t be scared of anything. One other thing we need to tell ourselves is that they should not believe that there is partiality in anything.
