A former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s Campaign Coordinator in Gombe State, Alhaji Abibakar Habu Mu’azu, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He obtained his membership card at his Kashere Ward in Akko Local Government Area.
Mu’azu said he was inspired by his love for the state and the need to join others in initiating the course of progressive change.
He said: “Other big names that made similar moves, with our supporters, include former Minister of Transport, Senator Abdullahi Idris, former Gombe State Deputy Governor Lazarus Yoriyo and former FCT Minister, Dr. Modibbo Umar.
“We also have Senator Saidu Rufai Alkali (who represented Gombe North in the Seventh Assembly), Jamilu Isiaku Gomna, Haruna Luka and many others who we shall know in the course of time.
“This we have done because of our love for the state as there are so many things we have observed that needs to be changed.
“Since we have been privileged to change the top (president), we in Gombe want to change the bottom of the ladders also.
“We want to ensure that come 2019, Gombe will be under APC because we have not joined the party to obtain ticket by force but to put heads together, correct the past mistakes and strategise for the future,” Mu’azu said.
Zonal Vice Chairman of APC in Gombe Central, Adamu Fata, who received the defectors, said Mu’azu’s entrance into APC had equalled him with others as he was now part of the party’s ideology of collective struggle and success.
