The management of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED) has signed a revised Condition of Service for its employees.
Mr Abdu Mohammed, its Managing Director, signed the document in the presence of officials of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) and Senior Staff of Electricity and Allied Matter (SSAEC).
A statement by Dr Adakole Elijah, Head of Corporate Communications of JED, quoted the managing director as describing the move as timely.
“The change became necessary because the old condition of service has been in operation since 2018.
“A document of such sensitive nature and importance requires periodic review in view of current realities.
”Areas captured in the new condition of service include employees engagement, conduct, welfare, career and capacity development.
“It also captures the responsibility of the company to its employees,” the statement said.
Mohammed promised to sustain the harmonious relationship between the management and the unions, adding that the revised condition of service would improve the welfare of workers and boost service delivery.
He promised to run an all-inclusive system, adding that his doors would be open to suggestions and meaningful criticisms.
“Revising the document has reaffirmed our commitment to excellent service delivery; we are committed to a conducive working environment that will guarantee industrial peace,” he said.
The managing director, who thanked the board of the company for approving the document, promised that the company would honour the new terms.
