‘Jos Inland port ready soon’

The Inland container depot in Jos, Plateau State capital, will be ready for inauguration soon, Executive Director, DUNCAN Group of Companies, Mr. Bawa Larry Peters, said yesterday.

According to him, the project will soon be inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari as it’s about 70 per cent complete.

Mr. Peters conducted reporters round the project site in Heipang, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, at the weekend.

He said: “The Jos Inland Container Depot (ICD) has reached 70 per cent completion. This huge success has been due to commitment of the Minister of Transportation Rotimi Ameachi, who has been in the forefront of pushing for its speedy completion.”

Presidential approval for the port’s construction was given in 2015.

Larry appealed to northern businessmen to have confidence in the project because when completed, the port will save exporters the cost of travelling to sea ports to clear goods and create over 5,000 jobs.

The host communities will benefit while the government will generate huge revenue as a result of activities within the terminal.
