Journalist Agba Jalingo released on bail

Journalist, Agba Jalingo, has been released by the police.

Jalingo’s lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, said in a statement yesterday that he was released at about 10pm on Saturday following a request made to the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Babaji Sunday.

Jalingo, publisher of CrossRiverWatch, was on Friday arrested by plainclothes policemen at his Alapere, Ketu, Lagos home and taken to Area F Police Station, Ikeja over a story he published about a lecturer facing prosecution after being caught cheating in Nigerian Law School examination.

Falana in a statement said that “upon the arrival of Agba Jalingo at Abuja yesterday he was dumped at the Abattoir detention camp where he was held incommunicado.

“We immediately contacted the Commissioner of Police of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Mr. Babaji Sunday to request for his unconditional release from police custody.”
