Junior D’Tigers ready to face Egypt today after visa hitches

The Nigeria U18 men’s basketball team Junior D’Tigers have eventually secured visas to South Africa for the 2024 Afrobasket and have made the trip in time before their first game today.

There were widespread concerns on Sunday when the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) raised alarm over the squad’s inability to get their entry visas from the South African Consulate in Abuja.

With their opening match against Egypt on today, the NBBF is now  making frantic efforts to fly the team to Pretoria early enough for the game.

The Head of Delegation Ugo Udezue confirmed the latest development.

The Nigerian ladies lost 62-70 to their Egyptian counterparts on Sunday in their opening game.

Junior DTigress will play their next game against Team Zimbabwe on Thursday 5 September.

Finalists of the FIBA U18 AfroBasket 2024 in South Africa will represent Africa at next year’s FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup in Switzerland.
