Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has said the state Independent Power Project (IPP) will be inaugurated in October.
Ganduje, who spoke during the Democracy Day celebrations yesterday, said the contract for the construction of the transmission plant was awarded at over N1 billion.
He added that the multi-billion naira Sabon-Gari flyover will also be opened in October, while the Kofar Ruwa underpass is to be completed in September.
According to him, the Dangi flyover/under pass will be completed within 10 months, and will be funded with the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
The governor noted that although the monthly IGR went up from about N1 billion in the last three years to N3 billion, tax payers are less that 10 per cent.
He, however, promised that the government will continue to tax the rich to serve the poor.
