Katsina United, Kano Pillars get morale boosting home wins

Katsina United and Kano Pillars picked up crucial home wins to boost their survival chances after they defeated Abia Warriors and Sunshine Stars yesterday in Katsina and Abuja respectively.

At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina, the Changi Boys made it second home wins for new coach, Usman Abd’Allah against Abia Warriors but they had to do so in a tough way.

Hardly had the game started when Godwin Obaje struck for the visitors in the 13th minute after a good pass from team’s leading scorer, Valentine Odoh but Mustapha Salisu equalised for the home team three minutes before the break.

The same Salisu made sure Katsina United smile home with the maximum points when he scored again in the 57th minute to complete a miraculous comeback.

The Changi Boys are now 15th on the log with 27 points from 24 games while Abia Warriors are 14th with also 27 points.

At the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kano Pillars began life in their new Abuja home with a 1-0 win over Sunshine Stars. Jerry Alex with the lone goal in the 12th minute.

Sai Masu Gida are 17th on the log with 26 points from 24 games. Sunshine Stars remain in the seventh spot with 36 points from 25 games.
