Kenya assures readiness for CHAN tournament

Kenyan authorities have conducted security inspections at key venues ahead of the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), reaffirming the nation’s readiness to host the tournament.

This is according to CAF Online.

The country’s Cabinet Secretary for Internal Security, Kipchumba Murkomen, formed part of a delegation that inspected the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadium which will host matches during the tournament.

The Kenyan government has taken all steps to guarantee the safety of teams, fans and officials at the competition, according to Murkomen.

“We want to assure Africa and the rest of the world that Kenya is fully prepared to host CHAN 2024 in a secure and welcoming environment,” said Murkomen. “From our airports to our stadiums, comprehensive security protocols are in place to ensure the smooth running of the tournament.

 “We’ve inspected Nyayo, Kasarani, and the training facilities, and we are confident of our level of preparedness.

 “Kenya is not only ready, but also determined to offer a memorable CHAN experience,” he added.

The nation has also announced visa-free entry into its borders for all African nations during the tournament, making it more accessible to football fans from across the continent.

With the tournament beginning on 3 August, Kenya is hosting alongside Tanzania and Uganda.
