- Governor visits deceased family
Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti has paid a condolence visit to the family of the beheaded Labour Party (LP) chieftain, Mr. Maduka Zachery, at Umuchioke-Ezieke, Akpukpa, Uturu in Isuikwuato Local Government.
Speaking at the family’s home during the visit, the governor condemned the unfortunate incident and urged the bereaved family to take heart.
He described the deceased as a committed party man, stating that the loss was not just that of the family, but also that of the party and entire state.
Governor Otti said those involved in the killing must be brought to book.
He directed heads of security agents to fish out the culprits.

Otti, who noted that it was not easy to endure such a tragic death, however, said no one could reverse what had happened and prayed God to console the bereaved family, Labour Party family and the people of the state.
The governor, who signed the condollence register on arrival, was accompanied by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, his Justice counterpart, Ikechukwu Uwanna, the Second Deputy Chairman of Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Nelson Nmerengwa, among other top government officials.
The Nation had reported that unknown assailants who killed and beheaded the Labour Party chieftain were yet to be known as reasons for their actions were yet unknown. This is even as many had given his death political colouration.
