OSHOJA Ruling House has written Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alleging a plot to change the clearance of Prince Wasiu Adeleye as the popular candidate for Olu of Ikeja-elect.
The stool of Olu of Ikeja became vacant, following death of Oba Raufu Amore in 2014.
In a news conference, Head of the ruling house, Prince Isiaka Akinlabi, said more members of the House had nominated Adeleye as Olu of Ikeja-elect since December 2014.
He explained historically, Oshoja Ruling House presents a candidate to fill the stool on the basis of rotation, and since the demise of Amore, Adeleye had been endorsed by kingmakers to fill the vacant stool.
Department of State Services (DSS), Lagos Police Command, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja branch, House of Assembly, and other agencies were also copied.
Akinlabi said Adeleye had been cleared twice by Ministry of Justice since August 10, 2016 and June 21, 2019.
He said: “On May 21, 2015, then Executive Secretary of Ikeja Local Government, Daley Adeokun, forwarded Adeleye’s name to Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
“Prince Nurudeen Adeleye had stepped down for Prince Wasiu Owolabi Adeleye since July 4, 2022 as Olu of Ikeja-elect, having been cleared by Ministry of Justice twice since August 10, 2016 and June 21, 2019.

The ruling house frowned at attempts to change the name of the candidate it had cleared.
Akinlabi further clarified that: “Temitope Majekodunmi is not a member of Oshoja Ruling House maternally and paternally. He is from Abeokuta, any kingmakers of Ikeja did not sign/endorse his name.
“It is statute barred to nominate any other person after nine years. We do not want anybody to plunge Ikeja and Lagos state into any crises.”
Akinlabi noted that Hon. Justice Akapo granted an interlocutory dated July 8, 2022 restraining the Lagos state government not to process any documents on Olu of Ikeja Obaship stool, approve or install anybody as the Olu of Ikeja on till final determination of suit.
He stated that: “Prince Adeleye is a male descendant candidate from the Idowu Aso branch of Oshoja Ruling House of Ikeja. We did not at any time write letters to Kingmakers of Ikeja, the Chieftaincy Committee or Lagos State Government to change his name to any other name.
“Information reached us that ministry of justice want to secretly unlawful clear the name of Temitope Majekodunmi that is not upon the court interlocutory injunction dated July 8, 2022 restraining Lagos State government not to process any name on Olu of Ikeja Obaship stool until final determination of suit.”
