To give hope to the hopeless the country through sports, Komanii Africa will on August 5, 2018, at the Campos Stadium Lagos, organise its annual inter-orphanage football competition which will see representatives of various orphanage homes compete in a one-day football competition.
There will be a lot of music, sports and other forms of entertainment as, apart from engaging the orphanage, there will be celebrity match that would involve popular Nigerian musicians, Nollywood actors and other celebrities that can attract and provide maximum fun for the fans during the games.
Organisers of the event, Change Africa Empowerment Foundation, said this year’s event will mark an improved attendance both in participating teams and spectators. They expect a crowd of no fewer than 4,000.
Kolawole Lawal told a crowded press conference in Lagos Wednesday, that the event could not hold last year because they could not get a suitable playground.
“Due to the growing popularity of the event, we were faced with the challenge of getting a suitable ground. But we were not idle as we identified and partnered numerous organisations whom we assisted with our expertise in the organisation of their events as consultants.”
He said this year’s event will take a new dimension in terms of prizes and other benefits. “we took a tour of the various orphanage homes and we were able to identify their needs and this year’s programme will be tailored towards meeting some of these needs.”
While thanking some of their sponsors for identifying with their progammes, they called on corporate Nigeria to support them in their bid to use sports and entertainment in supporting orphanage homes. “We want to bridge the gap between the privileged and the less privileged,” Lawal said.
