Kwara State government has detected 400 cases of certificate forgery among civil servants, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Media and Communications,
Dr. Muideen Akorede, has said.
He told reporters in Ilorin that after the BVN verification exercise, the government set up a committee headed by the Head of Service, Hajia
Zarah Omar, to verify the certificates of state and local government workers.
Akorede said the culprits would be dealt with according to civil service rules.
He advised others yet to be detected, to leave the civil service, stressing that if anyone is detected, he will not only be subjected to civil service rules, but will be prosecuted.
The SSA on Media said the Head of Service attended her last Executive Council meeting on Tuesday, as she will retire on September 1.
He said Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed appreciated Hajia
Umar for her meritorious service in the last 35 years and wished her success in her future endeavours.
Akorede noted that the governor said the state would leverage on her wealth of experience when necessary.
