KWARA UTD TIE: Groin injury stops Salami

Warri Wolves will be without the services of their utility striker Gbolahan Salami when they confront Kwara United in week 29 Glo Premier League clash on Sunday in Warri.

SportingLife reports that the gangling forward sustained groin injury during the week 27 league game against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan after 15 minutes of play and he had to be replaced by Sikiru Adewale Alimi who ended scoring two goals in the match.

The club’s media officer, Moses Etu told SportingLife that the team’s doctors have confirmed Salami’s absence from the match after he failed a late fitness test.

He said the Super Eagles striker is receiving best of treatment from the team’s doctors to enable him return to action very soon.

“I can confirm to you that Gbolahan Salami will not play against Kwara United because he is nursing a groin injury. Doctors are treating him now but he is yet to train,” Etu told SportingLife.

Meanwhile, Warri Wolves defender Azubuike Egwuekwe will be available for this weekend game after recovering from his knee injury.

He has since resumed training with the rest of the squad ahead of Sunday’s clash with Kwara United.

The Super Eagles defender was forced off with a Knee injury during their league game win over Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan in Warri.

The tall defender missed his side’s trip to Lafia last weekend where they secured a draw against Nasarawa United.

Egwuekwe was replaced by Oke Ogagotewho in the match against 3SC but he also got a red card in the match against Nasarawa United in Lafia.
