Lagos Boxing Show: Hammed wins  121st Best Boxer Award

Adegoke Hammed of Always Boxing club has emerged winner of this month’s best boxer of the day award based on his impressive performance at the 121st  edition of the Monthly Saturday Boxing Show at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Sports Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

Hammed was voted the best boxer by the Referees and Judges of Lagos State Amateur Boxing Association, out of the 20 pugilists that fought in ten bouts.

The premier amateur boxing competition organized by the Lagos State Boxing Hall of Fame in partnership with the Lagos State Amateur Boxing Association, saw Hammed, fighting in the blue corner for Caps light Boxing Club, knockout Divine Chibo of Progress Boxing Club in the third round in the 73kg class.

Other bouts saw Star Boxing Club’s Malik Aliu defeat Olagunro Yusuf of Dangote Boxing Club in the 52kg weight class by a 5-0 unanimous decision in the first bout of the day.

The 57kg contest saw  Adebayo Basit of Knock-Out Boxing Club in blue corner beat Kayode Mubarak of Boxing Temple Boxing Club a 3-2 split decision while Akinwande Qudus from Dangote Boxing Club defeated Ashimota Boxing Club’s Jimoh Damilare by the same score in their 60kg duel.

AbdulRahman Wahab of De-Young Boxing Club beat Gbadamosi Olawale of Nigeria Airforce in a 5-0 unanimous decision in their 60kg fight, then Saheed Abdulahi of Kamlat Boxing Club beat Olojede Seyi of Aso-Rock Boxing Club in a 64kg fight.

The only women’s  bout of the day saw Ososanya Abigael of Always Boxing Club lose to Azeez Islamiat of Dangote Boxing Club in a 44kg fight while Abu Benjamin of Brightest Boxing Club stopped Tijani Saheed of Olowogbowo Boxing Club in the 57kg category.
