Lagos builds multi-purpose centre for women

The Lagos State government has begun the construction of a multi-purpose centre to provide succour for women facing various challenges.

The centre, which is located in Agidingbi, Ikeja, the state capital, is being built by the state government to achieve parts of the United Nations (UN) sustainable development goals on empowerment/welfare of women and girls as well as poverty eradication.

At the ground-breaking ceremony for the project week, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode said the building of the centre affirmed his administration’s commitment to social inclusion, empowerment and protection of women.

Ambode, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tunji Bello, assured women in the state that the centre would be speedily completed.

He said: “This multi-purpose centre, the ground-breaking of which is taking place here today, will provide the right environment and resources catering for specific needs of women and give succour to those experiencing different challenges. I want to assure you all of our determination to ensure that this project is delivered on schedule and complimented with the required materials and human resources.”
