Apapa Local Government in Lagos State has rolled out palliatives to ease the people’s suffering by supporting governments’ measures to cushion effect of fuel subsidy removal.
Council Chairman, Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo, said every Nigerian is entitled to the palliative.
“We have structured it in a way it has nothing to do with political affiliation.‘’

‘’We have transportation palliative where we have 100 buses. We have met with transporters and their unions and they have agreed to be part of this. They charge N200 per drop but with our arrangement, it will now be N100 per drop. This is only for buses plying Apapa routes. I thank drivers participating in this. God will reward you,” she said.
She added: “There is food palliative. We have asked residents to register. We are giving out N10,000 per household and this will be distributed to 1,000 people, for six months…”
‘’We expect that this money will be used to buy foodstuff from the market. This is a time to support each other as Nigerians. We are in this together and we will get out of it together…”
‘’We also have health insurance, Ilera Eko Health Insurance. We have 250 beneficiaries and we are rolling out another 100. Also in the pipeline is our plan to feed primary school children…”
