Lagos repairs Ikeja GRA, Isaac John street, others

The Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC) has commenced the reconstruction of the dilapidated stretch of Isaac John Street, following a directive by the governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.

The road measuring about 1,650m which links Joel Ogunnaike and Sobo Arobiodu is presently undergoing major scarifying and base preparation work by the LSPWC which has since moved to site to fix the road.

At the inspection of the road project yesterday, the Chief Executive Officer and Special Adviser, LSPWC, Mr Ayotunde Sodeinde disclosed that the Corporation moved to site on the directive of the governor, saying, “the governor asked us to move in six days ago. It is a busy road and when we moved in, it was in a terrible state which impeded vehicular movement.

Sodeinde recalled that the road project was awarded four years ago and the governor was not satisfied with the pace of work on site which looked almost abandoned and directed that the LSPWC to immediately fix the road.

He added that the corporation is working on about 350m of the road which is in a terrible state; adding that base regulation is on-going and that the road will be asphalted tonight (Thursday).

The LSPWC boss reiterated the commitment of Governor Ambode-led administration to road construction and rehabilitation, saying the vision of the governor is to see a pot-hole free Lagos within the shortest possible time.
