Lagos State Safety Commission (LSSC) has decried increasing use of drugs and firearms at nightclubs, vowing to shut down defaulters.
Director General (DG) Mr. Lanre Mojola warned at a meeting with nightclub owners that the government had zero tolerance for the use of drugs and firearms at nightclubs and would henceforth shut down such clubs.
He said the use of hard drugs and firearms had become rampant at nightclubs across Lagos, adding that LSSC would collaborate with relevant authorities to stop such acts.
The DG also condemned the presence of underage persons at nightclubs, noting that it was against the law to allow such to occur.

He said nightclub owners should respect the laws of the state, as the government would not hesitate to wield the big stick on those who violated the laws regarding operation of nightclubs.
Mojola said the commission and officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and the police would start regular visits to nightclubs to shut down erring ones.
The Staff Officer in charge of Operations, Lagos State Command Superintendent of Narcotics, Maijama’a Abdullahi, said drugs were used at most night clubs, based on his findings.
He said at many nightclubs, there was no signage to warn people against the use of drugs.
