Lagos WAI Brigade celebrates 39th anniversary

The Lagos State Command of War Against Indiscipline (WAI) brigade under the National Orientation Agency has celebrated 39th years of its existence.

The event with the theme: “Restoring discipline and inculcating the spirit of patriotism,” attracted dignitaries and other officers from sister agencies.

It also featured a panel discussion, with speakers contributing their voices on how to reposition the brigade.

WAI was a brainchild of President Muhammadu Buhari, established in 1983 as Military Head of State, and its essence is to instil discipline in the society and support the fight against corruption.

In his remarks, the State Commander, SC Fredrick Otuokpayeubo outlined the giant strides the Lagos command of the brigade had achieved in its years of existence.

Otuokpayeubo equally called for more partnership, collaborative efforts and synergy with other sister agencies.

He said: “WAI brigade has initiated so many programme we can see today across the country, and that is why we need to catch the youths young so that the society will grow better, and for a better tomorrow.”

A police representative, CSP Joseph urged the brigade to live up to expectations by remaining focused on their mission to maintain discipline in the society.

He said: “When WAI used to be WAI organisation. The story and history is here. In those days, when you’re indisciplined, you don’t misbehave in public.”

Also, the Chief Executive Officer of Goodmus Learning Centre, Amb. Adekunle Badmus commended the brigade, and also spoke on immense opportunities embedded in the government bilateral agreement.

Also, Nollywood actor, Ayo Badmus charged the brigade officers to remain dedicated and focused in their line of duty.
