Leaked auto tape: Wike must emulate Fayose now –Rivers APC

Fayose

THE Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked Governor Nyesom Wike to emulate his Ekiti State counterpart, Mr. Ayodele Fayose by also owning up to the newly leaked auto tape about alleged rigging and threat to kill electoral officers during the December 10 legislative rerun in the state.

The party, yesterday in Port Harcourt, through its Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone, stated that it received with satisfaction, the confirmation by Fayose that the telephone discussion clip between him and Wike, published by Sahara Reporters was authentic. The party said: “We find Governor Fayose’s position very significant in several aspects.

The most important significance of that admission is that even among criminals, some level of honour, especially in telling some truth and owning up to the obvious, is necessary. “When the audio recordings of Governor Wike’s conversations with his people on rigging the December 10 rerun elections surfaced in public space, the governor rather than own up and raise other issues about the clips, chose to discredit them.

“Ordinarily, the APC expected Governor Wike to take advantage of the panel set up by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, to help unravel what happened during the elections, including the authenticity of the alleged audio recording clips and his many accusations against security agencies, INEC and our party (APC). Instead the Rivers governor defiantly announced that he and the Rivers State government would not cooperate with the IGP panel – something that tends to suggest that the governor has a lot to hide.
