Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged Nigerians, irrespective of social, economic and religious status, to imbibe tolerance and mutual respect for one another, to foster peaceful co-existence and unity.
He spoke at the 2023 International Day for Tolerance tagged: “The role of religion in engineering a positive mental state in the face of current economic realities’, organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs in Alausa, lkeja.
The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Olanrewaju Ibrahim, said his administration had continued to create an enabling environment for residents to thrive, irrespective of their ethnic or religious beliefs.

House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, represented by the Chairman, House Committee on Home Affairs, Mr. Abdulkareem Jubril, said religious leaders must not relent in propagating the message of peaceful co-habitation to their followers, “especially in this difficult time across the world.”
A cleric, Baba Aladura, Elder lsrael Akinadewo, said provision of food palliatives by politicians was not enough for the masses to face economic realities, adding that they should put their trust in God and tolerate one another.
The Khadi, Sharia Court of Appeal, Kwara State, Justice Abdulraheem Ahmed, advised religious leaders to teach their followers the lessons of faith and total submission to the will of God.
