A worker of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Taiwo Sulyman, 30, was yesterday hauled before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing his employer’s N2million.
Police prosecutor Jimah Iseghede told Magistrate Tolu Idowu that the accused committed the offence on February 15 at 11.00 a.m. at LUTH.
According to him, the accused was instructed to deposit the N2 million in the bank for the hospital but he absconded with the money.
“The accused also fraudulently uploaded a fake teller and sent to his employer as proof of evidence of payment. When he was summoned to bring the original teller, he lied that he was sick and stayed away from work for two months. He was later traced and apprehended by the police,” Iseghede said.
Magistrate Idowu granted him N200,000 bail with two sureties in the like sum.
She said one of the sureties should be a relation of the accused. The magistrate adjourned till June 28.
