Man bags 100hrs jail term for stealing phones

An Ebute-Metta Chief Magistrates’ Court yesterday sentenced a 38-year-old man, Chigozie Ozokwere to served a 100 hours community service.

Chigozie was convicted for stolen four phones valued at N20,000 property of Macaulay Ekenem and Kolade Waris.

Prosecuting Inspector Chinalu Nwadione said: “Chigozie is an addict criminal, who specialised in phone stealing. He had been beating and freed for stealing a phone around 7am until he stole another phone caught and arrested by the police.”

He committed the crime in October around 9:30am at Oyingbo Bus Stop, Ebute Metta.

Magistrate Tolu Idowu found the convict guilty on evidence by the police and ordered him to serve 100 hours as community punishment.
