An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday granted a 37-year-old man, Leke Adeoye, accused of stealing a N75,000 phone, bail in the sum of N50,000.
Adeoye, a resident of Agidingbi area of Ikeja, is facing a charge of stealing to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.R Onilogbo, granted the accused bail with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until Jan. 26 for mention.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Ishola Samuel, had told the court that the accused committed the offence sometime in August, 2017 at De Meros Hotel in Agidingbi area of Ikeja.
He said that the accused walked into a bar pretending to be a customer and stole a phone worth N75, 000 property of Joy Sunday, a waitress.

“Sunday said she was at the bar when the accused met her and ordered for a beer.
“The complainant said that after the accused finished the beer, he begged the waitress to quickly make a call with her phone.
“Sunday explained that she gave the accused her phone, and turned to quickly attend to another customer.
“The complainant said that by the time she was done with attending to the other customer, Adeoye had bolted with her phone,’’ he said.
According to him, the accused was apprehended two months later when he came back to the bar to buy drinks.
“The complainant reported the case to the police and the accused was arrested for questioning,” the prosecutor said.
He said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 287 prescribes three years imprisonment for stealing, if found guilty.
