The suspect, identified as Chukwudi Nweze, was said to have had carnal knowledge of the girl in his room.
The Nation gathered that the the victim, who lives in the same compound with the suspect, was lured into his room around 8.25pm.
Confirming the incident, the State Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, said the suspect had been arrested.
“Suspect allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge with his neighbor’s daughter, a twelve-year old girl in his room at about 8:25pm of same date.
He said the victim was taken to Ivy hospital Odume for medical examination by Police detectives attached to Isiowulu Division, after visiting the scene, adding that investigation was ongoing.

In another development, a 21-year old man reportedly hung himself in his residence at Amukabia village, Achalla in the state.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, in a statement, said the incident happened on Friday at about 5:30pm.
He said, “One Sunday Okpaga m’ of Ebonyi State but resides at Oye in Achalla, Awka North LGA reported at Achalla Division that his Cousin, one Eyim Akpaga ‘m’ allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself.
“Scene was visited by Police detectives attached to Achalla Division and victim’s photograph was obtained.
“Corpse was immediately taken for burial without autopsy to Ebonyi State by relatives who claimed and insisted was part of their tradition.”
Mohammed however explained that the motive behind the act was yet to be ascertained, adding that investigation was ongoing to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
