Man needs N4.5m for wife’s cervical cancer treatment

Forty-six year-old petty trader, Blessing Kasim, needs help. The mother of four and wife of Dolapo Kasim, who makes a living from waste recycling, is down with Stage 3 cervical cancer and literally lives her day and night in pain.

Her husband said his wife survives on pain-killer injections and doctors say she needs N4.5 million for radiotherapy, chemotherapy and brachytherapy treatments.

Dolapo said: “It all began with abdominal crisis and pains. She started bleeding from her private part. We started going to hospitals and she began taking medications and checks. Initially, it was said to be fibroid. She urinated blood at some point.

“Scan confirmed it was fibroid. They later told us her condition had become cancer of the cervix. Later, she began to emit smelly watery substance from her private part. When we got to General Hospital, Ikeja, tests confirmed it was cancer and it had reached Stage 2B. The doctors told us she would need treatment in radiotherapy, chemotherapy and brachytherapy.”

Dolapo said his wife has been under care of Dr Adefemi, consultant, and Dr Babalola, at Gynaecology Department. He said it was from there they referred them to Oncology Department.

“We are supposed to have started treatment since May. Before we went to  Ikeja, we had been to State Hospital Ota and State Hospital Ifo, in Ogun State, because we also live in Ifo.

It was from Ifo they referred us to Ikeja. I am appealing to Nigerians to save my wife,” Dolapo said. Nigerians can send donations to: Gabriel Adeyinka Kasim, Polaris Bank: 1016071452
