Mayweather vs. McGregor — Neymar, Football Stars React to Fight

As you might be aware, Saturday evening saw Floyd Mayweather take on Conor McGregor in Las Vegas in a boxing match which was either the greatest sporting spectacle of recent times or an utter sham of a fight — depending on whom you ask.

Among the millions who did likewise, several football stars past and present either stayed up all night or woke up ridiculously early to brave the 5.30 a.m. (BST) start time and tune in at home. And Neymar was one of them.

Some were Team McGregor.

Mayweather proceded to do a number on McGregor, with the UFC star quickly and visibly tiring as the veteran boxer kept chiselling away — right up until the fight was stopped in the 10th round.

It was at that point Bayern Munich horned in on the fun.

Neymar also nailed his colours to the mast postfight, congratulating “The Champ” Mayweather on reaching 50-0.

Neymar shared Mayweather picture on his twitter account short after the saturday night fight with the inscription ‘THE CHAMP”

Several other big names were quick to praise McGregor for having the guts to step into the ring in the first place.

Not surprised to wake up to the news. Surely that was the most likely outcome? The sport of Boxing retains its credibility with that result.

While, as you might expect, Michael Owen struck a more sober tone while analysing the result.

Unsurprisingly, the undefeated five-weight world champion boxer emerged victorious in T-Mobile Arena, with McGregor struggling to stand up on his own two feet by the time the referee called a halt to proceedings.

Not that the Irish MMA star will be overly upset, having reportedly taken home a $100-million-plus share of the prize pot for playing his part in the spectacle.
