Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has appealed for support from traditional rulers to tackle gender based violence (GBV) to protect the vulnerable.
Executive Secretary, Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, told the rulers that violence against women was on the increase, despite government’s effort to protect victims and survivors.

” … the agency recorded 4860 cases through Virtual Referral and Response Service (VRRS) and report, which includes domestic violence, rape, lack of parental care, threat to life, abuse, child neglect/abandonment… The breakdown shows there were 2710 for adult and 2150 cases for children”, she said
Mrs Vivour – Adeniyi noted there were still high prevalence of child abuse – physical, sexual and emotional.
She listed initiatives and interventions the organisation instituted to address gender-based violence.
The secretary urged the monarchs to help with strategies on preventing and ending SGBV as custodians of culture.
