MTN Nigeria has empowered 100 women from the Police Officers Wives’ Association (POWA), Lagos State chapter. The women who were elated with the gesture, were handed mobile stalls to sell products – airtime and data virtually through the use of digital gadgets.
Also, as a demonstration of its commitment to developing the youths, the telco, through MTN Foundation, trained 500 youths on ICT and Business Skills in Oyo State.
As part of the empowerment programme, MTN also beautified the POWA market corridor in Falomo, Ikoyi.
Lagos State Commissioner of Environment, who was respresented by the General Manager of Lagos State Parks aexpressed gratitude to the telco.
“We are glad that MTN is making conscious effort to give back to the community and also beautify lagos through the renovation of the POWA Shopping Complex Corridor here in Ikoyi and we are glad that Lagos State is gradually becoming a greener and healthier environment,” she said.
MTN Sales and Distribution Executive, Adekunle Adebiyi, said the project has been long time coming.
In Oyo State, the two-day intensive training for the 500 participants was held at the University of Ibadan.The training was organised by MTN in collaboration with it ecosystem partners – KPMG, Digital Bridge Institute (DBI); IBM and Oracle.
