Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani whose status as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State keeps growing, has received a further boost.

This followed an open endorsement of her cause on Saturday by an influential political figure and former governor of the state, Murtala Nyako who congratulated the lady for her position as the APC flag bearer for the March 11 governorship election in the state.

Binani had visited Nyako at his Old GRA residence in Yola where the former governor said people of the state were in difficulties and had need for change.

Nyako who arrived Yola on Saturday for the APC rally scheduled for the town on Monday, January 9, said in a news interview after Binani’s visit to him that Adamawa State and Nigeria as a whole need people who will lead the much needed change.

He said, “We certainly need improvement of the situation in this country. We need a greater Adamawa, we need a greater Nigeria. We have to relieve people of poverty, of insecurity, of educational backwardness.”

Nyako who was the Adamawa State governor between 2007 and 2014, refrained from blaming any particular persons or administrations for the nation’s woes but said that rebuilding Nigeria is a collective task for people of goodwill.

He said the challenges built up over the years but that now, “We need people who can mobilise us to move forward and achieve improvement.”

Meanwhile President Buhari will be in the state on Monday to flag off the governorship campaign rally of Sen. Aishatu Binani.

The state Police Command has deployed additional assets to ensure a hitch-free visit for the President.

The command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje,  noted that the command has also ordered officers to display a high level of professionalism and respect for human rights.

He disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Yola.

“The teams are expected to carry out covert surveillance as well as confidence-building patrols in the state in conjunction with sister security agencies.

“The CP is assuring of synergy and good working relationships amongst all security agencies which will be put into place.

“And that the NPF is committed to working with other patriotic stakeholders towards ensuring public order in the State before, during and after the visit of Mr President.

“The CP being the head of internal security in the state is already on ground to coordinate the security deployment and ensure all things being equal, the visit of Mr President is hitch-free,” he stated.
