League of Muslim Schools Proprietors (LEAMSP) Lagos State chapter, have been advised to collaborate in the provision of quality education for Muslim pupils.
The Chairman/Imam, Committee of Experts, Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation, Jamie Tirimidhi Akano, gave the advice at the group’s annual conference themed: “LEAMSP of our dream”. Akano admonished them to review their interns across teaching and non teaching staff, examine the present status of their schools and constantly make evaluations for strategic development.
He lamented that of the over 100 Muslim schools in the state, only 20 have been approved. He therefore encouraged them to register their schools and stand out to showcase potential to mould and build up morals in youths.
Akano equally urged them to be systematic in situating their schools in areas that would attract pupils of same faith.
“How many (pupils) do we produce yearly? How many get admission into tertiary institutions? What are their areas of course of study? Are they enough for our needs? If not, how do we collectively guide the upcoming ones to fill in the gap? “, Akano asked rethorically.
HJe urged the proprietors to be dedicated to the organisation and partner with each other in areas of need. He also warned that there should be zero tolerance for passive members.
As part of its dream, he said the organisation aimed at running an inclusive system of education, in addition to increase in the number of its faith-based universities.
The event also featured the election of new executive members to paddle the organisation’s canoe.
The outgoing president of LEAMSP Babatunde Fatai, urged the new leadership to ensure more of their schools are approved.
He thanked the state government and Developing Effective Private Education Nigeria, (DEEPEN) for adding more value to Muslim schools in the state.
