A woman in Ondo State, Mrs Nkechi Nwedozie, has sought to stop her millionaire husband, Dr. Fergus Nwedozie, from divorcing her.
Mrs Nwedozie claimed that her husband was kicking her out after she suffered with him for over 24 years to build a business empire.
“There was a day my husband locked me outside the gate for a whole night. I was molested by two armed men in the dead of night. He then took me to the village for cleansing rites according to our tradition, but in due time my husband started using the bad incident against me. It was at this time I discovered that he set me up by locking me outside and organised the rape,” she said.
She also claimed that her husband started sleeping with one of her friends in their Okitipupa home and then “suggested that I relocate to either the United Kingdom or the USA.”
Mrs Nwedozie said she moved to the United Kingdom in 2017 to “calm things down”.
“In 2018, I told my husband of my intention to return to Nigeria because I believed frayed nerves would have been calmed but my husband refused vehemently,” she said, adding that Dr Nwedozie removed her name as a director of the pharmaceutical company she claimed they co-own.
Mrs Nwedozie said when she threatened legal action, her husband secretly filed divorce papers.
Dr. Nwedozie confirmed that two divorce cases were instituted in two courts in Ondo State.
He also challenged his estranged wife to prove her allegations.
“There are two cases, one in the Federal High Court, Akure and another in the Federal High Court, Okitipupa. She was my wife and we are trying to dissolve the marriage now.
“All the things she said are matrimonial issues already before the court. If she goes to the press, they can report whatever they want to report but the case is in court. Let her go and defend herself in court.”
