Six siblings have been paralysed by a mysterious ailment in Nasarawa State.
They are all children of the late Danladi Bawa, of Gitata in Keffi Local Government Area.
It was gathered that the late Mr. and Mrs. Danladi Bawa, who died in 1990 and 2017, did not suffer or show any symptom of the ailment.
The eldest, Danlami Danladi, urged government and Nigerians to come to their aid.
He said: “Our parents did not die of this disease. They gave birth to eight of us and six were paralysed from a mysterious ailment. “Whenever anyone clocked 18 years, he/she will gradually become paralysed. We don’t know what is happening to us or the cause of this disease.
“I am 38 and our parents are late. When our father died in 1990, it was our mother who provided our needs. Her death in 2017 affected us more as we find it difficult to eat and pay for treatment.
“We all went to the Federal Medical Centre in Keffi and Godiya Clinic in Jabba council of Kaduna State and after various tests, they said nothing was wrong with us.”
“We pray we will be healed of this mysterious disease one day.”
Danladi appealed to the government, NGOs and others to assist them, adding that with their condition, they can’t feed and take care of themselves.
“I was repairing mobile phones but I can’t work again because of this condition. I pray that God will heal me and my siblings.”
Other paralysed children are the first child Asabe, who is married with five children; Pius, the third child; Maikasuwa, Danjuma and Cecelia, the sixth child.
A resident, Mr. Shuaibu Ahmadu, was shocked at the situation, saying no logical explanation has been given as reason for the paralysis.
“This disease will only paralyse them when they grow up and we wonder why. We pray God to heal them and protect the remaining two children,” he said.
