Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan, joined eminent scholars in Saudi Arabia for special prayers for Nigeria.
The prayer session was attended by revered Islamic scholars from the six geopolitical zones in the country.
Prayers were offered for President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal government to surmount the insecurity challenges in the country.
The gathering beseeched Allah to return peace to every part of the country and make Nigeria a prosperous nation.
The special prayers were led by Prof Lanre Badmus and Chief Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria Sheikh Abdur Rahman Ahmad.
The trio of Sheikh Abubakar Sani; Sheikh Tajudeen Oyebanji and Sheikh Sulaiman Njoko offered in Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo languages.
Alhaji Hassan described the crisis as a leveler, saying no one is immune from its consequences.
“May Allah give our President Muhammadu Buhari the wisdom to overcome insecurity challenges,” he said.
The NAHCON chief sought Allah’s forgiveness of sins committed by Nigerians.
He prayed for successful and peaceful conduct of general elections next year.
“We need serious prayers to keep our nation as one, to curb the current insecurity, and improve the standard of living of all citizens. Nigeria will In sha Allah be great in all aspects with fervent prayers by citizens. We are using this period of Hajj to pray for the success of our country in all ramifications,” he said.
Alhaji Hassan said NAHCON would continue to improve on its services in spite of the emergency nature of this year’s hajj operations.
Over 41,000 Nigerians performed Hajj out of the 43,000 slots allocated to the country by Saudi Arabia.
