NaomiBillz drops EP to celebrate birthday

Fast-rising Afro-fusion singer, Obi Naomi Ohotu aka NaomiBillz has released her Extended Play (EP) entitled, ‘The Genesis,’ to mark her birthday.

Speaking on the musical project, the Melani Records signee said it’s been an assiduous year for her.

“This year has been a very busy year for me. On January 1, I released my first single entitled, ‘Chance’. Two months after, I dropped my EP ‘The Genesis,’ which is like a birthday gift to my loyal fans. Right now we are promoting a particular song on the EP which is entitled, ‘Soro.’”

Continuing, the 17-year-old vocalist said, “You don’t really expect life to be a bed of roses but it’s been a ride and lots of experiences both positive and negative. It’s all part of the journey to stardom.”

NaomiBillz’s 6-track body of work was produced by BLA7E Beatz and Shaun respectively.

NaomiBillz, who began her music career professionally at the age of 14, disclosed that she grew up in a music family.

“I think we got this gift in our family because a couple of my uncles including Kidifa, Spenderker, and StereoMan who are South Africa-based are doing music too.

“Music has been part of me from a child. I started miming Psquare, Tubaba, and others’ songs. I remember when I was a little child, my dad asked me what I’m going to become when I grow up and I told him I was going to be a famous musician.”

NaomiBillz whose song, ‘Chance’ has been raking in numbers across streaming platforms expressed that she’s excited to be part of generation artistes who are promoting African sound to the world.

“Afrobeats is leading the world right now, and I’m happy to be part of the generation that makes Afro stay at its place as number one. The very thing I love about Afrobeats is the freedom because it grants me to express my culture and tradition.

The Cross River State-born artiste said she is open to working with heavyweight Afrobeat artistes including Grammy Award winner Wizkid, Burna Boy, Arya Star, Seun Kuti, Niniola, and other talented acts.
