Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly Balarabe Abdullahi has consulted members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 175 wards and exco members in his constituency in Toto Local Government Area.
Abdullahi, who will be seeking to represent the constituency for the third term in 2023, said “despite we have no opposition party in this area; we must remain a united body and go for primary with our votes in bulk.”
The consultation, which took place at the weekend, is in preparation to beat the guideline of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of April and May primaries of political parties.
Speaker Abdullahi (APC Umaisha/Ugya) said the meeting was a prerequisite and starting point for what is ahead of them in respect to the anticipated primary election.
The Speaker, who noted that the APC is already rooted in the Toto council and is the party to beat in the area, stressed that despite the fact that the APC has no strong opposition, it will work as a team for the primaries in order to garner bulk votes for the aspirants.
He urged all stakeholders and the wards and council excos to rebuild their strength, hold tight their people and political strongholds as well as embrace peaceful and effective grassroots mobilisations.
