BUDDING Nigerian artiste, Natty B is set to take his space in the highly competitive Nigerian music industry. This the singer tries to achieve with the release of three new singles titled I’m selective, Hot Coffee featuring Medulla and Parkwell.
Hot coffee is a song that calls on the lady after his heart. A typical party song, Natty B sings about the need to be happy and take life easy irrespective of one’s worries. By interpretation, Natty B parades himself and the soothing effect that comes with sipping a hot cup of coffee.
“If you feeling cold. If you dey lonely. If you dey worried, fly to me. Sarewagba hot coffee,” he sings.
The young artiste comes with a style that borders on Afro hip-hop and pop music. He finely blends it with a high dose of code switching. This is replete in the track, Parkwell. In Nigerian parlance, park well means to steer clear of one’s affairs. With the song, Natty B tells his foes to stay out of his business and not to be bothered about the choices he has made in life.
“If you no like me, make you waka go mortuary. If you no love me, make you waka go cemetery. If you no like my glory, you go end up like story,” he croons.
As an up and coming artiste, Natty B takes into cognisance the different tastes of the Nigerian music audience. While Parkwell has a slow tempo and appeals to those living with their personal struggles, I’m selective is fast paced and speaks to people who are in a party mood.
