Negotiation fails on ransom for Ondo siblings

Failed negotiation on the N15 million ransom abductors demanded for the release of two siblings – Busari and Saka Olusa from Ajowa Akoko in Ondo State – has hindered their release from captivity.

The two brothers were travelling last Saturday to Akunu-Akoko, a neighbouring community, when they were abducted by gunmen on the road.

The hoodlums abandoned the Highlander Toyota Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) the brothers were driving on the spot of abduction in the past four days.

They were still in kidnappers’ net last night.

A source said the abductors refused the offer the family could afford to release them.

Muslims and Christians in Ajowa have started prayers for the safety of their abducted sons.

A community leader Chief Ahmed Asagunla said many residents had embarked on fasting.

He said fears had prevented many farmers from going to their farms since the incident occurred.

Asagunla noted that though the police were doing their best, but they could not be everywhere due to shortage of manpower and vehicles for patrol.

He urged the state government to buy vehicles for the police, as done in neighbouring Kogi State.
