Over five hundred residents of Ikotun in Lagos State have benefited from Free Food Box distribution by a Non-Governmental Organisation, Foodclique Support Initiative, in collaboration with PepsiCo Foundation.

The initiative is one of the interventions by the groups towards eradication of hunger among indigents. The groups stressed the need for regular outreach towards the less-privileged and the poor, especially at a time prices of foodstuffs and other consumables continue to rise.

Head of Programme and Research (Foodclique Support Initiative), Tomilayo Sadiq, said the choice of Idimu was because more people had challenges catering for their daily need.

Sadiq said about 12 million Nigerians have benefited from the initiative since inception over one decade ago.

He noted that solving the challenge of hunger is tantamount to addressing the most basic need of man.

Gbenga Adesanya, who spoke for PepsiCo Foundation, said collaboration with Foodclique was due to its track record. He urged the government to make the environment conducive for the private sector to perform its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and impact the people’s lives.

Many beneficiaries thanked the groups for the gesture, and urged the government to emulate the initiative.
