Residents of Dape community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Saturday benefited from a free medical and food outreach organised by Adorable Foundation International (AFI).
The organisation distributed food packs containing varieties of raw food items, clothing, shoes, free medical care and counselling to widows and the less privileged.
Speaking at the event which was held at Angelic Worship Centre, Dape, Abuja on Saturday, Founder and Convener of the NGO, Princess Ada Amam Okeke said the annual outreach, which is the second time in Abuja, is aimed at creating more awareness and service to humanity.
Okeke said the NGO which was flagged off five years ago in Abuja to improve the lives of widows and the less privileged in the society.
She emphasised the importance of food and medical care in the lives of people, especially the widows who are facing a series of societal challenges.

She noted that the aim of the outreach was to eradicate poverty, alleviate hunger and put a smile on the faces of the less privileged.
She said: “We cut across five states, the reach is here in Abuja, Lagos, Bauchi Imo, and Anambra States.
“We are giving out free eye glasses to chronic patients, with strong cases and we will also give eye medications.
“Government alone cannot solve the burden of unemployment and cater for the less privileged and we are worried about the fact that a lot of people are hungry, jobless but the only thing they need is a kind of engagement”, she said.
She however appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the less-privileged.
