It was time for more prayers yesterday for President Muhammadu Buhari, this time in Minna, Niger State and Jalingo, Taraba State.
The Forum of Chief Imams of all Juma’at mosques in the 25 Local Government Areas of the state held prayers at the Minna Central Mosque, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Prayers were also offered for the development and progress of the nation at the session.
Sheik Ibrahim Fari, Chairman of the forum, said “The entire nation needs him to accomplish his mission of repositioning the country towards ending corruption in our lives.
“Corruption has been the major factor responsible for our collective setback.
“This gathering is very important to ask Allah to strengthen the current administration in its effort at ending the senseless killings of innocent Nigerians especially in the Northeast and North central.
“Nigerians, irrespective of tribe, religious and political differences, should come together and pray for our leaders.
“Our president is ill, everything in us as a nation is ill. All that is expected of us is to include him in our daily prayers,” he said.
The Taraba version was a joint special prayer by Muslims and Christians held at the Jalingo Eid prayer ground.
The representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev Baba Yerima, said praying for the well-being of Buhari is the duty of every true believer.
He noted that the president has brought peace and unity to the country and therefore urged the gathering to pray for their leaders at all times.
Ustaz Ali Babando, a Muslim cleric, said the president has been doing his best in tackling the country’s socio-economic challenges.
He noted that it is in the interest of Nigerians to keep praying for Buhari, to enable him return home to consolidate on the fight against terror and corruption.
Alhaji Sani Tullu, Secretary, Taraba Chapter, Buhari Support Organisation (BSO), said the BSO had organised prayer and rally in honour of the president whom he described as a visionary leader.
“We are particularly impressed with the performance of the administration in anti-corruption fight, decimating insurgents, revitalising Agriculture, Education and Health sectors,” he said.
