Niger villagers demand N1.19b compensation over military invasion

64 victims of the August 2016 attack on five villages in Bosso local government area of Niger State have sued the military and the Federal Government over the execution of 13 persons and illegal detention of 54 others.

The villagers are demanding N1. 1 billion in damages and compensation.

In a suit filed at the High Court on Monday and listed for hearing on February 20, the respondents include the President, the Attorney General of the Federation, the Nigeria Army, Nigeria Air Force, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Air Staff, the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigeria Army and the Brigade Commander of 31 Artillery Brigade, Minna.

While the applicants include 10 parents of 13 youths killed in the August 4, 2016 bloody attack by the military.
