Nigeria retains 40th position in FIFA ranking

In the latest ranking released by the world football’s governing body, FIFA on Thursday, Nigeria retained its 40th position in the world and fifth in Africa behind Egypt, Senegal, Cameroon and Burkina Faso.

However, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)  has promised to engage the Super Eagles competitively in order to improve the team future ranking.

“The new FIFA ranking is a reflection of what happened during the month. But we will continue to do what we are doing to prepare the team,” the federation said on Thursday.

At global level,  Brazil retained its number one position with 1,672 points, while Argentina is ranked second.

World champions Germany, Chile and Colombia occupied the third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.
