Nigerian royal fathers including Ooni of Ife, Oba of Benin, Obi of Onitsha and a host of other notable custodians of culture have been tipped to attend the first Nigerian German Cultural Carnival set for Rebstockpark Frankfurt, 10th September 2022.
Also expected are Minister of Information and culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar,
DG of the Nigerian Diaspora. Commission, Mrs Abike Dabiri and host of others. The carnival which is to begin with a carnival float around and about the German city of Frankfurt terminating at the Rebstockpark, Frankfurt is being organized by the Consulate General of Nigeria Frankfurt in collaboration with Nigerian Communities in Frankfurt and Nigerian Associations in Frankfurt.
The event themed: “Peaceful Co-Existence Across Multi Diverse Cultures,” has support of Nigerian in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), Nigeria Diaspora Commission as well as other Nigerian associations in Germany and is already creating a big buzz in the German city.
The carnival according to its initiator the Consulate General of Nigeria to Frankfurt, Ambassador Wahab Akande, “is a grand plan to gather all the Nigerian cultural associations together under one platform to showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage to the world.
Speaking recently at his office in Frankfurt, Akande noted that he was inspired to organize the festival after he saw the huge presence of Nigerian ethnic associations in Frankfurt Germany.
He said “I was invited to the Igbo Cultural Day when I arrived Frankfurt last year and I saw many Igbos in display and it inspired me that if we also have other ethnic groups all coming together to celebrate Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage in one place , it would be a massive celebration that will definitely boost Nigeria business and economy subsequently.
”We are also in collaboration with German cultural institutions as well as the Cross River state of Nigeria, organizers of the world famous Calabar carnival.
‘Expected at the one day event are cultural associations in Germany including the Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Efik and Ibibio, Ijaw, Bini, Esan and a host of others.
To feature in the one day fiesta are all the Nigerian arts, culture, dance, cuisine and more.
