Nigeria’s Orbih elected into Badminton Confederation Africa

The president of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), Francis Orbih Esq has been elected as a council member into the Badminton Confederation  Africa (BCA) at the body’s world congress held yesterday place in Kualar Lumpur, Malaysia.

Orbih who earlier lost a bid for a two-year tenure in 2021, bagged a four-year tenure this time instead of the shorter one he lost.

In his post-election remarks, he said his victory has brought Nigeria back in the boardroom where decisions about the administration of the game of badminton in Africa would be taken.

”Nigeria will definitely have more voice in influencing positively such decisions making,” he said,

Meanwhile, Tukebana Michel Bau of Seychelles retained his post was returned unopposed as the BCA president while Zambia’s Kingsley Mulenga defeated the incumbent Amine Zobiri of Algeria for the Deputy President seat.

Botswana’s Mpiwa Bosenogile defeated the incumbent Mrs. Chipo Zumbrani of Zimbabwe to become the treasurer eves as 11 others out of 21 contestants were elected into council.

Other members of the new BCA executive council are: Odette Assembe Engoulou (Cameroun);Rajen Pultoo (Mauritius);Dr Hesham Fouad Mohamed El Tohamy (Egypt);Jeanette Moneoang Leshota (Lesotho);Simon Mugabi (Uganda);Aubin Houndagnon Assogba (Benin);Dro Honore Zolobe (Cote d’Ivoire);Francis Orbih (Nigeria);Mohamed Moncef Zemmouchi (Algeria);Micheal John Noone (South Africa) and Michael Shamsu Mustapha (Sierra Leone ).
